Guar Gum, also known as guar gum, is a highly purified natural polysaccharide extracted from guar beans, a legume widely
grown in the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. It has unique molecular structural features and naturalness, making it rapidly becoming
a new environmentally friendly papermaking additive with superior performance. Guar gum has a wide range of applications in many fields, including food, petroleum, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, personal health care, petroleum, adhesive mosquito repellent, paper and textile printing and dyeing industries.

Industrial applications of guar gum include as a thickener, stabiliser, emulsifier, curing agent and film-former. It is used in the
food industry for ice cream, cold drinks, cream, snacks, bread making, pasta and various other food processing. Guar gum is
also widely utilised in industrial applications such as in fish farming, dyeing and printing sub-sizing, civil engineering excavation, etc. The physiological effects of guar gum also include lowering serum LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increasing glucose tolerance, and because the gum has been shown to be effective in lowering fasting blood glucose, improving glycaemic control, lowering insulin requirements in insulin-dependent diabetics and lowering LDL cholesterol, it is being investigated for therapeutic use in human disease
