Potassium Fluoborate
CAS:14075-53-7
EINECS:237-928-2
Molecular formula:BF4K
Molecular weight:125.9
Content: 99%
White powder or gel crystal. No hygroscopicity. Bitter taste. Crystallization from aqueous solution yields hexagonal prismatic crystals. Relative density is 2.50. Melting point 530 ºC. Slightly soluble in water and hot ethanol, insoluble in cold ethanol. It begins to decompose during melting. It can be decomposed by strong acids. When fused with alkali metal carbonates, fluoride and borate are generated.

Purpose:
Used as a flux for hot welding and brazing, as a raw material for aluminum magnesium casting to produce boron containing alloys, and as a filler in heavy-duty grinding wheels using resin as abrasive binder. When welding and fusing silver, gold, and stainless steel, it can remove the residue of light metals. It is a raw material for producing and other fluoride salts. Also used in electrochemical processes and reagents.
