Calcium fluoride(CaF2)
1. Formula: CaF2.
2. Molecular: 78.08
3. Purity: 80%--97%.
4. Properties: Lt is colorless hexagonal, odorless and tasteless crysteless crystal with relative density is 2.679.
It is hygroscopic. It is soluble in ether, insoluble in alcohol. The solubility in acid is greater than in water.
It decomposes in alkaline solution and produces sodium fluoride
And silicon dioxide(SiO2). It is decomposed to sodium fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride by heating to300. It is toxic.
5. Uses:
As a flux in steelmaking to reduce slag viscosity
Ceramic grade is used in the glass
Welding rod coatings.
Aluminium production.
Hydrofluoric Acid production
Organic and inorganic fluorine-bearing
Antifouling marine paints.
Ceramic industries
