Strontium Chloride Hexahydrate
Strontium Chloride Hexahydrateis Colorless cubic crystal. Solubility: soluble in water (soluble in 0.8 parts of water, 0.5 parts of boiling water), solubility (hexahydrate) 106.2g/100ml water (25ºC), slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone. [2] It deliquesces easily in air. Hydrates have l, 2, and 6 crystal waters, and lose 4 crystal waters at 61.4ºC, become monohydrate at 100ºC, and become anhydrous at 200ºC.
It is a precursor to other strontium compounds, such as strontium chromate. It is used as a corrosion inhibitor for aluminum.
