Ammonium bicarbonate is a white crystalline solid that is commonly used in baking powders and as a leavening agent. It has a faint ammonia odor
and is highly soluble in water, forming a mildly alkaline solution. Ammonium bicarbonate decomposes easily upon heating or in contact with acids,
releasing ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water. This decomposition makes it suitable for use in food and chemical industries where these gases are
needed. The compound has a melting point of around 41°C, but it decomposes before melting. It is stable under dry conditions but should be stored
in airtight containers to avoid moisture absorption and premature decomposition. Its solubility in water increases with temperature, and it is slightly
soluble in alcohol.
