Uracil is an RNA-specific base, equivalent to thymine (T) in DNA, and is one of the basic building blocks for the formation of RNA and vitamin B3 (an important cofactor in the metabolism of terrestrial life) [5], and one of the four constitutive bases that make up RNA. It replaces thymine in DNA during transcription and pairs with adenine. Thymine (T) is obtained by methylating uracil.
