Triacetin
Triacetin, also known as glyceryl triacetate, is a triglyceride with the chemical formula C9H14O6. It is a colorless, oily liquid with
a faint, pleasant odor and a slightly bitter taste. Triacetin has a molecular weight of 218.21 g/mol and a density of 1.159 g/cm³ at
20°C. It is highly soluble in organic solvents like ethanol but only slightly soluble in water. The boilingpoint of triacetin is 258°C,
and its melting point is -78°C. Triacetin exhibits low viscosity and has a refractive index of 1.430-1.433 at 20°C. Due to its stability
and low toxicity, it is commonly used as a plasticizer, solvent, and humectant in various industrialapplications, including food
additives, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
