Tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) is a commonly used phase-transfer catalyst that can increase the rate of a reaction or efficiently facilitate a variety of chemical reactions. The reagent can be used as an iodine source and Chemicalbook generates
the iodide needed for the reaction in situ, avoiding the use of some unstable and expensive iodides. In addition, the reagent is widely used in the dealkylation of esters and ethers. Uses: As a phase transfer catalyst, tetrabutylammonium iodide can effectively promote the alkylation of nucleophilic substrates such as alcohols, amines and phospholipids. In the two-phase reaction system, TBAI is more important as a phase transfer catalyst to promote the reaction. It is used as a reagent for polarographic analysis and ion-pair chromatography. In organic synthesis, the TBAI/TBHP catalytic system has a good catalytic oxidation effect in the cross-dehydrogenation coupling reaction, and has a significant catalytic effect on a variety of organic reactions.
